Thank you for considering the self-service option for this site upgrade! It won’t take long at all.
Instructions
Before starting the migration, we strongly suggest you update plugins and themes on the existing site. Besides increasing the reliability and security of your site, this will make the recommended upgrade to WordPress 6.01 a smoother process.
When you’ve completed the plugin and theme update, complete the following steps to migrate/update your site.
- From your site control panel, choose the backup tab:
- At the bottom of the backups page, click Create Snapshot
After the snapshot completes, select it from the list and choose Clone new site from Snapshot from the Restore Snapshot button/dropdown in the lower center part of the screen.
Select where you wish to create the site, the PHP version, and the WordPress version (5.5 is recommended):
- Click Deploy and let the process complete. If any errors show up during the clone/deploy process, please contact support via chat, ticket or Slack.
- Your site has now been deployed on a temporary URL. Check it out to make sure it is working correctly before moving to the next step. If you have any issues with the temporary site, please contact support for assistance.
- At this point you’ll need to contact support to obtain the correct IP addresses to input in your DNS (they are different for each CloudFlare plan level). The LoadBalancer IP addresses listed in the Convesio Dashboard are incorrect.
- For the next steps, you’ll be switching between the old site (which has your domain name on it right now) and the new one (which has the temporary URL). On the Old Site, visit the Domains tab.
- Click the link next to the long-number domain, to Make Primary. Then click the link to Delete each version of your domain name.
- In the Domains tab of the New Site add both forms of your domain name and Make Primary the correct one.
- If you are currently on CloudFlare, switch your bare domain and the www to the Grey Cloud mode while you are updating the IP addresses. If this is not done, your domain will not direct correctly.
There will be a brief downtime while your domain is added to the CloudFlare zone. After you have tested your new site, the old one can be deleted so you are no longer billed for it.
